SRINAGAR: January 30, 2017: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Monday said that detainees are forcibly subjected to unlawful, undemocratic and unethical imprisonment & judicial institutions are being used as a tool to prolong their detention.
Geelani said that judiciary is supposed to provide workable justice to needy, however these institutions too are misused by state machinery. While referring to state administration, He said that virtually courts have been assigned the job to delay cases, thereby prolonging the already snail’s pace of judicial proceedings. This well coordinated conspiracy of the bureaucracy has jeopardized & threatened the general psyche of both inmates as well as their families, he added.
Spokesman said that family members of these detainees during interaction with Syed Ali Geelani, disclosed the woeful account about detainees and said that though they have filed petitions challenging their detention, but instead of providing justice, courts just for the sake of formalities, put cases on next hearings. They said that after winter vacations the cases were in final stage, we were expecting their release, however without assigning any proper reason these cases were deferred & put for next hearing. Pro-freedom leader expressed his deep concern and said that the delaying tactics adopted by administration and judiciary is painful, unjustified and unacceptable.
Hurriyat Chairman said that people in state are facing worst type of state terrorism, thousands are languishing in jails and are approaching these judicial institutions for justice. It is very sad and what is alternative if they won’t get any justice & respite from these courts.
Pro-freedom leader said that during court proceedings the detainees expect much and after court proceedings and as a routine they get bailed out, however any kind of delay tantamount to injustice. It has been accepted and accredited that justice delayed is justice denied, he added.
Huriyat chairman assured deputation that we will make efforts to highlight this issue and resent the approach adopted by judiciary and administration.
SRINAGAR: January 30, 2017: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Geelani strongly condemned the re-arrest of Tehreek-e-Huriyat leaders including Shakir Ahmad Mir, Mohammad Amin Parray and Javed Ahmad Phelay, said that despite quashing of PSA and their release, they were re-arrested and shifted to Kathua jail. Ridiculing state administration for their brute approach, he said that despite tall claims made by administration, that detainees bailed out by court won’t be rearrested, however it proved hoax.
Hurriyat Chairman said that political activists and people arrested during people’s uprising were bailed out by court, however were rearrested, slapped with PSA & detained again.
Referring to re-arrest of three Tehreek-e- Huriyat activists, pro-freedom leader said that last week they were bailed out and cases were quashed, however they were detained, lodged in police stations and now again shifted to jail. Syed Ali Geelani said that Mohammad Amin Parray is seriously ill and one of his legs had developed severe infection & persistently oozing puss and despite his ailment, police shifted him to Kathua jail.
It is worst type of state terrorism, said Hurriyat Chairman and organizations for human rights need to take cognizance, otherwise it will put a big question mark for their credibility.
