Also Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of Kupwara and Sopore encounter, All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairman, Syed Ali Geelani reiterated that the youth of Kashmir have opted gun as a reaction to the Indian military and forcible occupation of Kashmir. Terming Kashmir as a basic issue of contention between the two nuclear powers of the sub-continent the Hurriyat Chairman regretted the stubborn postures of India to deal this political issue with its military might. With the resolution of Kashmir issue, predicting a new era of peace and development in South Asia, Geelani asserted on India to read the writing on the wall visa-vis the horrendous situation prevailing in Jammu and Kashmir where the occupation forces seem to have outnumbered the local population during any cordon and search operations, still the people display their sentiments for right to self-determination, said Geelani.

While expressing his grave concern on the rampant use of oppressive and suppressive measures by the occupation forces during the cordon and search operations, from Krusan, Lolab, Batamaloo, Chatabal, Karan Nagar, Srinagar to Khudwani in Kulgam, people are subjected to physical torture, intimidation, mental agony and humiliation said Geelani. Condemning the use of military might against the civilian people in the garb of Indian Independence day preparations, Geelani expressed his anguish for creating a graveyard like silence in the nook and corner of the valley before 15thAugust. We are used to such repression as a peace loving nation on every Independence day of India. Our political, social, religious and human rights remain grabed on the eve of every Independence day of India, which Geelani termed a grave matter for India to ponder at the earliest.
